The following, in conjunction with the “Art Check List”, outlines the production specifications and additional charges for the successful completion of your project.

ART SPECS

Art Specifications: Visstun® utilizes state-of-the-art digital Direct-to-Plate and Direct-to-Press technology in its printing process. To avoid additional charges and potential delays, art must be output-ready digital files and should conform to the "Art Check List".

Job Changes: Change orders after a project is submitted may incur additional or duplicate charges and may affect scheduled delivery dates. To avoid additional charges or delays, nail down all loose ends prior to ordering.

Art Services: Any time art must be created or modified, art services will be billed as follows: typesetting & minor corrections – $37.50/v minimum; art creation, reconstruction, or significant modification – $300/v minimum.

SET-UP AND PROOFING
   Back | Top

Set-Up: New orders are $50/v, exact reorders are $25/v.

PROOFS: Three proof options are available. With each order and reorder you will receive via email and be required to approve a color PDF proof of the art adjusted for the curve and taper of the cup. While not an accurate color proof, this PDF allows you to verify that the art is correct and generally the correct color. Production begins once this PDF proof is approved. For $50/v, you can order a color mock-up which is a digitally printed color sheet cut out and wrapped around a preformed cup. This mock-up gives you the basic look and feel of the cup. The third option is a full production proof which can be ordered for $200/v. Production proofs are recommended whenever color matching is critical and required on larger orders.

SPEC SAMPLES: Full production spec sample: $250/v ($50/v is credited against the full order when placed). Color Mock-Up: a color mock–up is a digitally printed color proof cut out and wrapped around a preformed cup. This mock-up gives you the basic look and feel of the cup – $100/v ($50/v is credited against the full order when placed).

COLOR MATCHING
    Back | Top

Color Targets: It is recommended that you supply an accurate color print with your art. We will print your job without an approved color target but, without an approved color target or a production proof, a job cannot be rejected if the product color does not match your expectations. We can supply a calibrated color target for your approval for $37.50/v. When color matching is critical, always order a production proof.

recyle5 PMS/Spot colors: All PMS/Spot colors will be converted to 4-Color Process. When referencing a PMS color in a process color print, refer to a Pantone® Process Imaging Guide to see how the color translates when converted to CMYK. Most colors change when converted to CMYK.

Please Note: Jobs cannot be rejected for color issues unless a production proof has been performed. The final job must vary dramatically from the proof for rejection to be considered.

PRINTING PROCESSES
    Back | Top

Registration: Please allow ±1/16” registration variance of the print to the product perimeter. We make every attempt to line up art in the seam area, but we cannot guarantee it.

Scanning: $75/v per 4-color scan and $37.50/v for line art scans. Art larger than 8.5”x14” can be photographically reproduced on a transparency and scanned.

Email & FTP: Submit files smaller than 2Mb via email to your Sales Counselor. Files up to 80Mb may be uploaded to the upload art page. Remember to also send a printed sample of what you expect the art to look like. Refer to our "Art Check List" for details on art submission.

Offset Lithography: All images submitted are printed as submitted. Image resolution should be set at 300ppi – remember that effective image resolution is decreased when an image is enlarged in a layout program; so, images should be sized at 100%. When color is critical, we always recommend either a mock-up proof or a production proof.

Templates and Warping: Our standard templates are rectangles which are designed to facilitate adjusting the art for the curve of the cup. This adjustment, referred to as “warping”, will slightly affect how all elements in the image look. Templates can be downloaded from the templates page. Template dimensions are shown.

Copyrights: Customers warrant that all images supplied for reproduction, whether digital, conventional or otherwise, are unencumbered by copyright and other usage rights connected to the image(s) and agree to hold harmless and indemnify Visstun® for all claims and expenses for any actions in law that may result from the use of these images.

Separations, Files, Plates, & Dies: All separations, digital files, plates, and dies created by Visstun® remain factory property. Our storage policy is to keep these materials on file for 24 months. After 24 months, reorders are treated as new jobs and require new art and set-ups. Original art is returned on request.

SOFTWARE GUIDE
    Back | Top

InDesignInDesign, QuarkXPress, PageMaker: InDesign is our graphics department’s preferred layout software. All placed images should be sized at 100%, not enlarged or reduced in the layout, and original image files must be provided with the layout document. PDF layout templates can be downloaded from our templates page.

Photoshop .tifPhotoshop: We use Photoshop to edit and correct all photographic images and complex illustrations. As with all submitted work, images should be sized and cropped to final size. When a clipping path is needed, create it by using pen tools and establish the fewest number of control points possible. When saving a file with a clipping path, please set flatness to at least 3 pixels. Changing the resolution of an image from, for example, 72ppi to 300ppi will not improve the appearance of the file — it will actually be the correct resolution, but still appear "low res". The following outlines specific Photoshop considerations for our different processes:

IllustratorIllustrator, Freehand, Corel Draw: Make sure colors are defined as either spot or CMYK depending on the intended final print. Convert all text to curves/outlines to avoid font problems. Do not embed fonts in Corel Draw. As with a layout program, placed images must be sent along with the Illustrator file and should be properly sized and cropped in the originating program prior to placement
